Open Health Select Committee Inquiry - How Can the Government Tackle Obesity?
The government have opened a new inquiry to investigate what public health interventions have been most effective at reducing obesity and the consumption of less healthy foods.

The inquiry will aim to examine why existing food and diet policies have not succeeded in reducing rates of obesity and will explore what more the government and food industry should do to address social inequalities and deliver on the goals of the new Food Strategy outlined earlier this week. It is hoped that doing so will improve the UK population's access to affordable, healthy food and will illuminate how well weight management services are functioning within the NHS and whether they provide fair access to treatment.
The Committee has launched a call for written evidence to help inform the inquiry, the submission deadline of which is 28th August.
The complete news story and details of the call for evidence can be viewed on the government website.
